The Winter 2011/12 tryouts will begin Sept 20 and will run through to Oct 3. Click Here to view the Tryout Schedule online or use the link below to download and/or print the schedule.
It is recommended that players who wish to tryout for a competitive team start to prepare themselves now for what will be a very competitive tryout. All players from U10 to U18 are required to tryout at their own age level. Should a player wish to tryout for a team at a higher age level a request in writing must be presented to dunbrack.sc@ns.sympatico.ca.
- THE U10 COMPETITIVE TRYOUTS ARE FOR PLAYERS INTERESTED IN EITHER THE ACADEMY OR INTERMEDIATE TEAMS
- ALL TRYOUTS ARE HELD AT SOCCER NOVA SCOTIA 210 THOMAS RADDALL DRIVE

Challenge for Nova Scotian Soccer Team - BMO Team of the Week - National Champions
Posted On: 2011-08-08
Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club wants to invite all of our players and their friends and family to help support one of our city's soccer teams in their quest to become the 2011 BMO National Champion Team.
Halifax County United U12B Girls is one of only 15 soccer teams selected from across Canada as a BMO Team of the Week. They are five days into a 15-day challenge to become the 2011 national champion, and are doing very well - currently less than 100 votes from 5th spot, competing against teams from much larger centers.
If they win, BMO will invest $125,000 in a local soccer field and give $5,000 to a local charity of our choice. The team has already contributed $500 to Kidsport NS, to ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of children taking part in sport.
Many of the fields we practice on sit beside elementary and junior high schools throughout the Halifax region. The fields are used daily by thousands of children and adults. This is such an easy way to bring money to our community ... a much-needed upgrade at no cost to anyone's budget, and deserving of your endorsement.
The team is asking you to lend your support by voting daily @ http://community.bmo.com/soccer/team-of-the-week/winners every day until August 15. The contest permits voting by each household member once a day.
Also, we hope you can help to spread the word via Twitter and Facebook. Make a statement. Tell Nova Scotians how they can make a difference. We can only win a national challenge like this by working together!
With our thanks,
HCU U12B Families from Prospect, Upper Tantallon, Hubbards, Hammonds Plains, Stillwater Lake, Timberlea and Hubley

Call for Volunteers - IWK Kermesse
Posted On: 2011-04-19
On May 28, 2011 from 10-3pm the IWK Auxiliary will be holding their 101st Kermesse on the grounds of the IWK Health Center. The Kermesse is a day full of fun, entertainment, flea markets, food and excitement. The money raised from this event does not buy MRI’s, CAT scans, or other hospital equipment but rather is raised to provide for the everyday needs of the women, children and youth of the IWK community. The moneys raised on this special day goes to buy birthday presents for children who have to be in the hospital for their birthdays, buys music and recreation equipment, specialized wheelchairs to help children live a normal life, buys computers for the schools run within the hospital to help children and youth stay connected to their classrooms and the list goes on and on.
As you may imagine, a day like this requires a great deal of support and volunteers. This is where I am asking for the help of the Soccer community. Many youth from our community came out to lend a hand last year and the appreciation felt by the Auxiliary was amazing. This year, we would like to offer something back to the youth who help out. We will be giving out certificates that acknowledge your service to the IWK and these can be used for things such as university applications and resume building.
If you, your son or daughter, your whole soccer team, your friends, neighbors, anyone can give two to three hours of your time to volunteer it would be greatly appreciated. We need hundreds of volunteers to make this happen. We will provide all the training and it might be as simple as sitting at a game and taking tickets from children as they play. Or if you’re not into crowds, it could be coming over the day before to set up or at the end of the day to help take down the activities. You can decide. Please respond by emailing kermessevolunteers@gmail.com.
Please help this worthy cause and make their 101th year the best year yet.

New Technical Directors
Posted On: 2009-03-25
Over the past couple of years Ratomir Kovacevic and Philip Serieys have been part of the technical team headed by Alan Jazic. Due to work commitments, Alan has stepped down as TD but will continue to advise and assist with youth training and remain as the Premier Men's coach. Ratomir and Phil have taken on the lead roles and have officially been named as Technical Directors for HDSC. Between the two they bring a wealth of experience and soccer knowledge to the Club.
Ratomir went through the youth system in Croatia in a professional club called Osijek. Following that he spent several years in the semi-pro leagues when he started coaching as well. When he came to Canada, he coached various age levels with Dunbrack and currently coaches the U13 provincial boys team. He holds a CSA National "B" License and plays soccer in the Masters League.
Phil has been playing since the age of 5 where he played for Dartmouth United. He has represented Nova Scotia numerous times at the provincial level and was a member of the Nova Scotia Canada Games team in 1997. Phil holds a Provincial pre-B license and currently plays for Dunbrack's Premier Men's team.
Christina Martin has been hired as our new Mini TD. Christina has an impressive coaching resume. She started with the Kings West Mini Program in 2002 and stayed on for 3 years. In addition she has coached high school soccer for a few years. As a player she was part of the New Brunswick Canada Games team in addition to playing senior soccer in the Valley and more recently for Dunbrack Senior Women's Division 1 team.
We would like to welcome Ratomir, Phil and Christina and wish them all the success in their endeavours. They can be reached at HDSCTechnical@ns.sympatico.ca.

Summer 2007 Registration
Posted On: 2007-02-19
Believe it or not Summer Soccer Registration is one week away. This year we will be holding our summer registration Saturday February 24th, 2007 from 900AM to 200PM at the Birch Cove Baptist Church, 10 Donaldson Avenue.
Due to a large demand from our families, this year HDSC will be offering a Micro program for children born in 2003. This a parent participation based program. The technical staff are looking forward to working with some of the youngest soccer players we have ever registered.
Tryouts for our youth teams will begin on March 31st and April 1st for U12 Tier 2A and all Tier 1 teams, with summer training beginning April 9th. The tryouts for out Tier 2 teams will begin April 9th through April 14th and 15th, with summer training beginning April 19th. The tryout schedule will be posted on our website early next week www.dunbracksoccer.ns.ca/ . New this year all Tier 1 games will be played on artificial turf.
Our mini program U6 to U10 will begin training indoors in May. We will be placing the players on teams and posting the teams and the training for the indoor portion on our website in early April. Any parents wishing to coach please contact us at dunbrack.sc@ns.sympatico.ca Once the teams have been selected there will be no player movement. The outdoor season begins June 1st and will run through to August 17th with our annual closing run night.
Evaluation sessions for our U10 committed program will be held Monday April 16th 2007 from 600-800PM and on Thursday April 19th 2007 from 600-800PM at Soccer Nova Scotia indoor facility. No cleats can be worn on the surface. There will be an evaluation session fee of $10.00.
Please remember that when writing a post dated cheque that they are not always cashed right away. We do our best to adhere to the 15th of each month, however it is not always possible.
We also try to return all telephone calls as quickly as possible, however during the early part of the season the phone is jammed with calls. Please feel free to email us your questions and comments dunbrack.sc@ns.sympatico.ca.
No player will be permitted to train or participate in any sessions until all paperwork, registration form, Athlete Waiver and fees have all been submitted.
